Manly Dunbar

Manly D. Dunbar was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lovingly reared by a mother and father who held strong Christian values. These values were imparted to him at an early age by his parents and continued at Antioch Baptist Church where he was christened at the age of six months. He accepted Christ as his savior at the age of ten. His Christian education and belief in God has enabled him to weather any and all storms that life has presented.

Mr. Dunbar is a 1956 graduate of John Adams High School and as a business student attended Kent State University completing this education at Cleveland State University. He achieved success in the field of housing and real estate as the co-founder of Parkhill Realty. Soon after Congress passed the first Section 8 Housing Assistance Bill, Mr. Dunbar was appointed the first Director of the program in the country based here in Cleveland. Mr. Dunbar finished his work career as Specification Specialist for the Ohio Turnpike Commission at the Headquarters in Berea, Ohio.

Mr. Dunbar has served on a number of boards in his work career. He was the first African –American appointed to the National Leased Housing Association based in Washington D.C. Mr. Dunbar also served on the Board of Housing and Redevelopment Officials and became a Certified Property Manager. He was an active board member of Campbell Court a senior housing complex in Shaker Heights. Mr. Dunbar is a member of the Antioch Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir and The John Adams Black Heritage Alumni Association which works to grant scholarships to graduating college bound seniors. He is also a devoted husband, father and step father a committed family man and friend to many.
