Alberta was born August 7, 1934, in Middletown, Ohio to Clinton Stone and Lillie Mae Conley-Gayle. She was the oldest of three children, Marty Henyard and Leon Gayle; both preceded her in going home. She moved to Cleveland and met her husband Fred D. Harris Jr. who preceded her in going home. She was blessed with six children 5 boys and 1 girl: Duran, Darrell (deceased), Andre, Anthony, Curt, and Chelsea (deceased).
Alberta was a member of The Metropolitan Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and later became a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Alberta was very spiritual and read her bible everyday. Alberta worked for Witmore’s Bar-B-Q and later the board of education until she retired. Alberta was a very good cook and gardener; she could grow vegetables on the side of the driveway. Alberta was a very social and loving person she enjoyed life, everyone in the neighborhood knew Alberta. She was affectionately called Queenie to her family and friends. She was the Queen of the household and didn’t play when it came to love and respect in the home. She said what she meant and meant what she said. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Duran, Andre, Anthony, Curt, and daughters-in-law Gertrude, Stephanie and Sue. Her grandchildren: Duran Jr., Curt Jr., Christopher, Andre Jr., Sharita, Tenia, Juwannice, Isaiah, Victoria, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
