Alphonso Smith of Akron, OH, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18, 2021.
He was born in Alabama on May 18, 1933, to the late Eugene and Annie Lee (Anderson) Smith. He was their only child. He attended Akron Public Schools.
After spending 3 years in the Navy, his working career was spent with the Ford Motor Company. He attended First Apostolic Church in Akron on Thornton St. He was a generous and loving man who gave to the less fortunate. He enjoyed traveling with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberly Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Naomi (Beard) Smith; son Eugene Smith, Jr.; stepdaughter, Kizzi Beard; stepson, Dante Mitchell; best friends, Larry Green and Bill Pursley; good neighbors, Bill Bell, and family as well as many other loved ones and friends.
