Annie Lou Jones, age 90, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on December 26, 2017, at her Roslyn Avenue home. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Annie Lou Jones, age 90, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on December 26, 2017, at her Roslyn Avenue home. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
Annie was born to the late Ed and Minnie Layton on November, 10, 1927, in Cordele, Georgia. She later moved to Detroit, Michigan where she met and married Monroe Jones, Sr. They were married for 56 years at the time of his death in 2001. Their marital union produced eight children.
Family was Annie’s pride and joy. She loved to laugh and she enjoyed sharing stories of her life as the youngest child of a large family.
Annie retired from Chrysler Motor Corporation where she made lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Jones, Sr. and her son Monroe Jones, Jr.
Annie leaves seven children to mourn her passing: Claudia Jones, Vernice Jones, Gwendolyn Jones, Timothy Jones, and Baxter Jones, all of Akron, Ohio; Valerie Jones of Green, Ohio; and Detra Willis of Houston, Texas; as well as numerous grand and great grand children and a host of family and friends.
