Anthony Roundtree, Sr., passed away on April 8, 2025 at the age of 70. He was a Cleveland native and spent his final days surrounded by his family as they ushered him into the arms of the Lord. He never met a stranger and was the life of the party everywhere he went.
“Tony” graduated from East Tech High School and attended Cuyahoga Community College where he majored in music and radio broadcasting. This launched him into his early career at WJMO and other local stations where he was a favorite disc jockey playing jazz, solid gold soul R&B hits from the 70’s and early 80’s under the moniker “Tony Steven” a mix of the names of his two sons. He was also a member of a band where he played the bass guitar and keyboard at many venues and events around the city.
Tony spent over 15 years as a Bus Operator with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority where he was a joy to his passengers and colleagues. After he retired, he spent time with his family, and devoted time to his online radio show, Midday Buffet, streamed live on Fridays from 10AM-1PM.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and often verbalized his love of the Lord, even in his most difficult moments. We, as a family are grateful that he established relationship with Christ and that he accepted kinship with the Lord throughout his life.
Anthony is survived by his two sons, Anthony Jr (Nakia) and Steven (JaRita); one grandson, Roman; three sisters, Anita Vaughn, Andrea Roundtree, and Angela Roundtree; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and extended family.
