Betty Jo Waymon went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November, 23, 2022.
Betty was born May 31, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama to the union of Eloise Hatcher and the late Coolidge Collins Sr. She attended Akron Public Schools. She was a dutiful employee of Akron General Medical Center, working in environmental services until her accident. Betty was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, where she served on the Nurses Guild, and her love for Christ radiated in her everyday walk of life. Betty has never met a stranger; she was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever was in need – her siblings, nieces, and nephews benefited the most. She had a huge heart and was very giving and well-loved. However, please don’t push her to the limit; she could rumble with the best of them: she was a fighter by day and a model by night.
Betty had a flare for fashion and a model portfolio to match. She loved cooking, and traveling; especially going on cruises with her best friend, Lillie. She was an amazing mom, her love for her children was unsurpassed; they were always her top priority, along with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Coolidge Collins Sr.; brother, Thaddeus Collins; and sisters, Sharon Edwards and Carrie Collins.
She will be greatly missed by her mother, Eloise, who saw fit to give her the best care until she was no longer able to do so; the loves of her life, Cassandra (Lesia), and Alwin (Poppa), along with seven grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; her sister, Sylvia Thomas; brothers, Coolidge Jr., Jimmie (Vicky), and Chris Collins; uncle, Bobby Hatcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
