Beulah Mae Richardson entered Eternal rest on April 10, 2023. Mrs. Richardson was born March 2, 1928, in Kershaw, South Carolina. She was the eldest daughter of Julia Bell and Mack C. Hammond. She had four other siblings; Walter Hammond, Sarah Catherine Reeves, Louise Hannah, and Alfreda Thompson. Growing up in the south she attended her grandfather’s church, and was baptized at an early age in Kershaw, South Carolina. Early on she learned the value of honest living and hard work on her grandmother’s farm.
In her late teens, she and her family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. After finishing high school, she went on to earn a degree in Nursing and began her career as a nurse at Marymount Hospital. She married Wille Richardson and raised two sons Dale and Ronnie (deceased) and a daughter, Shirley Ann. Beulah enjoyed sewing, knitting, and cooking. She was known for her cooking skills and often hosted cookouts for family and friends, often sewing for her family and others.
Two things that were especially important to her were faith and education. She attended Antioch Baptist Church and later joined Olivet Institutional Baptist Church under the late Pastor Hoover. She took her children to Sunday School and regular Worship service. Education was important, although being a nurse her children rarely missed any days at school. Beulah often showed up at school unannounced which made her children model students.
Family was especially important to her in later years, the lessons she instilled in her children are priceless. Nightly devotion and prayer were a daily function in her household.
Beulah is survived by her son, Dale and daughter, Shirley Ann; one sister, Alfred; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
