Braxter Baskerville Jr., affectionately known as Pete, was born on September 21, 1932, in Mason, Tennessee, to the late Rev. Braxter Baskerville Sr. and Cosetta Jones Baskerville. Braxter was the second eldest of seven siblings.
Braxter accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Belmont Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Mason, Tennessee.
Braxter attended Fayette County Training School in Somerville, Tennessee and graduated in 1953. He ventured out on his own after he graduated from high school, traveling to Cleveland, Ohio. Later he returned to Tennessee and married the love of his life, Ronnestine Seymour.
Braxter was a devoted father of three children, Ernestine, Deborah, and Ronald. He had two granddaughters and one great granddaughter. They were also the love of his life. Braxter and “Ronnie” raised them with strong values.
Braxter was a devoted man, a hard worker, and someone you could depend on. He worked at Grabel Manufacturing in Cleveland, Ohio, for fifteen years. Later, he started working at the Chrysler Stamping Plant in Twinsburg, Ohio. He received numerous awards for perfect attendance and was recognized twice (thirty-five and forty years) for Dedicated Commitment to the Shared Beliefs and Values of Chrysler. He retired after forty years of faithful service.
He had a passion for old school classic cars and keeping his cars in perfect condition. Braxter also worked for a private antique car collector for over fifty years who became more of a family member than an employer.
Braxter was a member of St. Matthew Methodist Church, which was later called St Matthew United Methodist Church, in Cleveland, Ohio, for sixty-six years. He was a member and President of the Senior Usher Board and sang with the Male Acappella Chorus. He loved dressing up for church and enjoyed singing and traveling with the Male Chorus. “Pete” was a family man who loved spending time with family, church family and friends. He was known by many children as “PaPa” they loved the candy he gave them. He will truly be missed by all. For now, we won’t say goodbye, but see you later.
Braxter “Pete” Baskerville Jr. joined the heavenly choir on March 1, 2023. Three siblings preceded him in death, Corrinth Foster, Odessa Richardson and Wyomia Neal George.
