Dr. Brenda Greene is a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Brenda was born on September 21, 1959, to Theodore Brinson Greene and Juanita Mae Porter in Xenia, Ohio. She attended Xenia High School and graduated at the age of 16. After graduating from high school, Brenda attended Central State College and majored in Biology. She then furthered her education at Wright State Medical School, where she met the man who would later become her husband, George G. Stokes; they married in 1992.
After graduating college, she went on to residency at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, specializing in anesthesia. She worked as an anesthesiologist at Hillcrest Hospital for over 30 years. She was a person who could talk to anyone and make every single person smile just as beautifully as she could. Brenda’s smile was a mark that she left on her classmates, co-workers, and patients, which led her to have an extensive network of friends who wanted nothing more than to continue the good times they were constantly able to have with her.
When Brenda was not at work, she would often be home and enjoy a simple lunch, typically just a cut-up onion with salt and pepper, while watching her favorite reality or cooking show, soap opera, or singing/talent competition. There wasn’t a time when the DVR wasn’t full of all the shows that she would record just so that she could show someone in the house her favorite parts of that episode, saying, “Just watch this one part, it’s awesome.” Brenda loved cooking and tending to her flower beds in the summer. She would often take her children, Jazmin and Theo, to the store with her to pick out which flowers she was going to plant that summer when in reality, she already knew what she wanted. There was then a battle to see which sibling would be the one to endure the heat and help Brenda dig holes and plant the seeds, a battle which Theo rarely won. Besides spending time with her family, Brenda loved to spend time with her friends.
The smile that came across her face the second she got a call or text about someone wanting to spend time with her was a smile that could take over an entire room. She wanted nothing more than to spend time with everyone she could, that way she would be able to share her excellence with as many people as possible. If there were one thing that everyone needed in their life, it would be a mother, wife, sister, relative, or friend like the one that God blessed us with by giving us, Brenda Sue Greene. She passed away at 62 years old on August 31, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Juanita Greene.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Dr. George Gregory Stokes; her loving children, Jazmin Stokes and Theodore Stokes; and her siblings, Judy Greene, Aicha Greene, Paul Greene, and Jimmy Greene.
