Burrell Williams of Cleveland, Ohio passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on August 23, 2025.
He was born August 29, 1932 in Haddock, Georgia to Wilma Jenkins and Henry Thomas. When Burrell was 10 years old he and his sister Mabel joined their mother in Cleveland, Ohio where he attended Bolton Elementary School and Max S. Hayes Trade School.
As a young child, Burrell loved hunting and fishing with his cousins in Macon, Georgia. He also played baseball for several years on his family’s Negro Baseball team, The Cleveland Barrons.
Burrell also known as “Boot” and “Rooster” was a sharp dresser who loved gardening and sports, especially major league baseball-The New York Yankees were his favorite team.
Burrell married Dolores Fairly on June 18, 1951. Out of this union they had three children. On October 18, 1984 he married Joan Elmer.
Burrell retired from United States Steel after 28 years where he held the position of Millwright.
Burrell accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wilma Jenkins and Henry Thomas, son Todd Elmer, and great granddaughter Shannon Avant. Burrell is survived by his wife Joan, Children: Denise (Tom) Lewis, Bruce Williams, Kimberly (Leonard) Hill, and Theresa Boyd. Grandchildren: Tanya (Justin) Walls, Stacey Chapman, Kelley (Justin) Simmons, Mariah Hill, Leonard Hill, Cara Farley, Corey (Tamara) Farley, Fallon (Carlton Sr.) Avant, André Elmer, Tosha (Josh) Davis, and Andrea Elmer; Great Grandchildren: Kennedy, Kira, Kyla, Lincoln, Liberty, Lyric, Shauné, Kendall, Jaylen, Carlton Jr, Carter, Cheyanne, Iris, Trevon, Jomar, Justin, Jrew, Amaya, Skyler, Josh Jr., Tyler, Ariyah, Aris, and Ricky. Sister Mabel Ward and a host of nieces and nephews.
