Carmen Milagros Ledger was born to parents Bienvenido (Benny) and Carmen Delgado on September 26, 1975 in Chicago Illinois. She had three sisters April, Maribel, and Dezoray. Her childhood years were spent with family and friends in Chicago, Illinois.
Carmen was educated in the Chicago, Illinois school district. While growing up she discovered she had a passion for truly helping others. Carmen decided to put her passion to use and started a career in nursing. She worked for Metro Health Rehabilitation Center as a nurse. Carmen was afforded the opportunity of being able to combine two of her passions; nursing and traveling and became a traveling nurse. Carmen was very conscientious in serving her patients with dignity, respect and empathy. She loved her job in nursing, she did this and cared for others until her health became challenging.
She loved everything pumpkin, Pumpkin Pie Pop-Tarts, Pumpkin Spice Latte Cold Brew Coffee, Pumpkin flavored butter, Pumpkin Spice Almonds…. Spiced Pumpkin Candles if there was anything pumpkin you could bet Carmen owned it. Her favorite color was Hunter Green. She loved going to Barnes and Noble’s which she made a tradition with her children. She loved being able to read about the adventurous lives of others through her books.
Carmen accepted Christ at an early age. She was a God-fearing woman who re-dedicated her life to Christ and got Baptized on Saturday January 26, 2020. She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Oakwood. Carmen was passionate about church and enjoyed attending church praise events where she loved to be able to sing and dance to worship songs. Carmen was a member of an International Bible Study called Community Bible Study that she loved attending with her mother-in-law Sharon Haynes. Through her bible study fellowship, she met many women who loved the smile she had on her face every time she walked into the room.
Carmen was a special mother to her children. She was their nurse, counselor, teacher, friend, and confidant. Carmen could always be counted on to be there for her children and never hesitated to go the extra mile that they needed. She was an outstanding example of a mother. Her maternal instinct will be remembered for the core values she instilled in her children; integrity, respect, responsibility and of course housekeeping, Carmen loved making sure her house always felt like a home.
On May 23, 2005 she married her “soul mate” the love of her life, Cedric Ledger Jr. Carmen took great pride and joy in loving and caring for her husband. To see them together was like witnessing true love in action. Carmen loved Gospel music and she and Cedric rejoiced in listening to good music. Her favorite artists were Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Detrick Haddon. Carmen was so special and will be forever remembered for her passion and intensity for her husband, her children and granddaughter. Carmen was an exceptional woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend.
On Saturday June 18, 2022 Carmen was called home to be with the Lord. Preceded in death was her daughter Maribel. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Cedric Earl Ledger Jr. children: Dezoray, Destiny, Marisa, Mariah, Anthony, and Jasmine, Grandchild Amiyah, parents Bienvenido (Benny) and Carmen, mother and father in laws Sharon and Daniel, and Cedric and Felicia, three sisters April, Maribel, and Dezoray, sister-in-law Justina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
