Carolyn Evelyn Campbell was born on September 22, 1944, in Tuskegee, Alabama to Nellie Blackmon and Roosevelt Huffman. Her sisters, Annie Rushing, Lillian Griffin, Hattie Robinson and Sally Smith, also two brothers, Nishman Huffman and Roosevelt Matthews preceded her in death. Carolyn married Johnny Alexander and that union produced 3 children. Carolyn found employment at Stouffer’s/Nestle which she retired from with 30 years of service.
Carolyn was a lover of strays (animals and people). She took in and helped so many. Anyone that knew her, knew that she loved her cat, Speedy. She had a flair for cooking and would host the whole neighborhood. She also liked her chill time, fishing, traveling, dancing, and the casino.
Carolyn accepted Christ at an early age and, even though she did not have a home church, she knew the Lord and often attended Mt. Zion of Oakwood and BOCA when she could.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory: One sister, Clotill Gaulden (Chuck); two sons – Tony Alexander, Michael Alexander (Karen); one daughter – Vera Price; one granddaughter – Vershay Hunter; one grandson – Malique Price II; three great-grandchildren – Donnell Trammer, Alanna Price and Malique Price III; one sister-in-law – Brenda Matthews; two bonus granddaughters – Kristin and Lakeisha Malone; 5 bonus great-grandchildren – Elijah, Isaiah, Dajah, Jeramyah, and Dashon; and a host of nephews, nieces, and other close family members.
