Cassandra Griggs 77, a devout Christian from Cleveland, OH, returned to God peacefully in her home on January 29, 2025.

Cassandra was born in Cleveland, Ohio, November 24, 1947, to Allen and Beatrice (Billingslea) Philpot. Cassandra was the youngest of nine children: John Allen, Nathaniel, Thelma Jean, Grace, Edward, Joe, Arthur Lee and Mack L. Her niece, Sylvia (Philpot) Williams was raised as her sister. Cassandra was educated within the Cleveland Public School System and graduated from East Tech High School. She further advanced her education by attending Tri-C and Case Western Reserve. She worked for United Way of Greater Cleveland for 20 years at various social service agencies including serving many years as Coordinator of Elderly Servies with Phillis Wheatly Association on East 43rd Cedar Avenue.

Cassandra married Emmett Griggs Jr. April 2, 1966. To this union three boys and one daughter were born: Emmett Arnold, Marcus Sean, Beverlin and Rayallen. Their union produced five wonderful grandchildren: Johnathan, Kevin, Aaron, Keyana and Michela.

Cassandra was a devoted Christian who cherished her Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. For many years she attended Guiding Light Full Gospel Church in Cleveland, Ohio. She took great solace in knowing the Lord was watching over her and her family. Her Christian values formed every aspect of her life and molded her into the beloved person she was.

Cassandra leaves to cherish her memory her children Emmett (Ruth), Marcus (Elaine), Beverlyn and RayAllen, Her sister Grace Tyner, her brother Edward Philpot, her sister/niece Sylvia (Theodore) Williams and a host of other family members and friends.

Cassandra is preceded in death by her loving parents Allen & Beatrice Philpot, husband Emmett Griggs Jr., siblings John Allen Philpot, Nathaniel Philpot, Thelma Jean Saulsberry, Arthur Lee Philpot, Joe Louis Philpot and Mack L. Philpot who she has now reunited with in Heaven.
