Deacon Charles L. Spencer was born February 21, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William & Mary Spencer. He was the fourth child of four children.
Charles was educated in the Cleveland Public school system where he attended East Technical High School.
Charles was employed by Ferro Engineering for 32 years until he retired in 1996. He then held various others positions including Cleveland Clinic & Cleveland Science & Arts Museum to name a few. Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized July 31,1991 at East Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Through hard word an dedication to the Lord, Charles became an ordained Deacon January, 1995 under the leadership of Rev. Floyd Thomas. Charles held the position of Chairman of the Deacon’s Board for taking the leadership role over a 15-month period for the church to secure a pastor.
Charles fathered four children: James, Gerjuanna,Donell, & Terrance. On July 3, 1998 Charles married Kathleen and they enjoyed each other’s companionship for 27 years traveling, art & crafts, and worshipping the Lord were there favorite pastimes.
Charles loved being around family and loved ones especially during family reunion times. Kathleen has stuck by his side during his final stage in life and remained faithful to her vows.
On December 26, 2024 Charles went from labor to reward. Three sister-in-laws preceded him in death Lois Payne, Katherine Bryant, Lucille Bryant-White & one brother-in-law Lester Bryant.
He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, his loving wife of 27 years Kathleen, four children; James, Gerjuanna (Henry), Donell, & Terrance, two sisters; Charlotte (John), Beatrice (Bobby) one brother; William, eight grandchildren; Terrell, Raymel, Tianna, Garvin, Kendall, & Terrianna , two- great-grandchildren Camren & Kyree, one sister-in-law; Lorna Bryant, tw brother-in-laws; James Bryant & Charles Bryant and a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
