Charles Paul Shy was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 20, 1967. He was born to his mother, Cynthia Deborah Shy, and his father, Charles Paul Vaughn, Jr. He was the first child. Charles Paul Shy was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 20, 1967. He was born to his mother, Cynthia Deborah Shy, and his father, Charles Paul Vaughn, Jr. He was the first child. Charles matriculated through East Cleveland Public Schools until his senior graduation in 1987 from Shaw High School.
Charles immediately went on to serve his country by joining the army in 1987. He was honorably discharged in 1992 only after receiving such honors as Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver, and Mechanic Badge (Driver-W), Expert Badge Grenade, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle, and Army Lapel Button. Upon his return to civilian life, Charles further serviced the country in a different capacity by becoming a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He proudly carried out this duty from 1993 until he retired in 2019.
Charles LOVED his family. He loved photography. He loved Shaw High School. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. And he loved the city of Cleveland (except the Browns).
His hobbies and interests included telling long stories “and stuff,” cracking jokes, gambling, traveling, poker nights, hanging with family and friends, eating good food, and being involved with the community and youth.
Charles was a gentle giant, a loving, giving, unforgettable leader.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia Shy; his aunt, Laverne “Bunny” Cox; his grandparents, Marie Shy, Willie Mitchell, Charles Paul Vaughn, Sr. (survived by Patricia), and Vizelle Vaughn Lee.
Left to celebrate his legacy, his wife, Charissa Shy; his only child, Cameron Shy; his father, Charles Paul Vaughn, Jr.; seven siblings, Amber Celeste Shy, Amina Shy, Charles Paul Vaughn III, Pharaoh Rashan Vaughn, Christian Vaughn, Julius Vaughn, and Samantha Knox Crane (David); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends who loved him dearly.

So my brother and I had finished the yard. Only to find out when mom got home leaves were still in the yard. May your family find comfort during the saddened time. Charles was a great person. My fondest memories was he used to live behind us and were had tons of leaves to pick up. So my brother and I had finished the yard. Only to find out when mom got home leaves were still in the yard. Charles had raked his leaves and threw them over our fence so he wouldn not have to pucke them up. We worked together got all the leaves up. We never had that problem again. Here's to good memories until we meet again.
