Christine Gail Davis Harris was the only child born to Remolda Christine Cheeks and Frank Henry Davis, Jr. on June 23, 1947. Her parents preceded her in death with Remolda passing when she was two years old. She was blessed with loving grandparents both maternal and paternal, and aunts and uncles who assisted in raising her.

Christine met William Harris and they married April 27, 1968. From their union two children were born, Andrea (Theodore) Morris and Yvonne (Jason) Brooks. Christine and William settled in Cleveland and later moved to Bedford Heights, Ohio, where they have been residents for forty-four years.

Christine was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was extremely active from
directing the Ludette Children’s Choir at age three, to being part of the Ushers, Guild Girls and Sunday School. She was a founding member of the Young Adult Ushers of the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Cleveland. She served as the first Ohio Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Junior and Young Adult Ushers and was an Instructor at the School of Ushering.

Christine was a “Camp Fire Girls” Leader of eighteen girls for three years and received the highest honor of the Waken Award for her volunteering. She taught school for thirteen years (Kidd’s Preschool Enrichment Center, Preschool and Kindergarten; and First Grade, St. Henry Catholic School) before working for the Department of Defense at Navy Finance Center & DFAS-Cleveland for twenty-five years as a Financial Systems Specialist. She received numerous awards from both places for her work. She is proudest of winning the top two awards presented by DFAS for her work with the Active, Reserve and Retired military. She sent weekly information to one hundred fifty-four DFAS retirees and was a member of the Birthday Club for thirty years.

Christine attended Michigan State University and graduated from John Carroll University, Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Kindergarten, Reading and Computer Certification, and a Minor in Sociology. She is a life member of Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Fraternity – Alpha Iota Chapter at John Carroll.

Christine was the family historian of 556 (465 living) descendants of her maternal
Great-Grandparents Kathryn & Rufus Thompson. She founded and wrote the family newsletter the
“Katie-Rufus Connection.”

Christine was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for 45 years where she served as the Chairperson of the Shepherds’ Ministry with 35 members. Previously, she served on SPPRC, team taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was an assistant to the Junior Usher Board and Youth Group and a member of the Aldersgate Women’s group. She also would send 45 booklets from the Upper Room to people in her family, friends, and former co-workers as her personal mission for the GOOD LORD every two months.

Christine leaves to cherish her memory her husband William Harris and two daughters, Andrea Morris and Yvonne Brooks; two sons-in-law, Theodore Morris, Jr. and Jason Brooks; five grandchildren, Briana and Marissa Brooks, Theodore III, Nyomi and Ashley Morris; Siblings Frank Davis, Jr. (deceased) and Victor Davis, and Glenn Davis (Kathy) and Geraldine Ellis; sisters-in-law Karolina Harris (Carl Harris deceased) and Audrey Davis. Christine is the loving niece of Dorothy Cheeks (Walter Cheeks deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that enjoyed her company.
