Christine Inez Simon was born December 21, 1945 in Akron, Ohio to the union of the late Willie and Lunnie Carroll. She transformed from this earth on May 7, 2023 in Akron, Ohio after a short illness. She was deeply cherished among the community.
Christine was educated within the Akron Public School System and graduated from Garfield High School in 1966. She wore many, many different hats. She was on the usher board at People Baptist Church and lastly on the usher board at Second Baptist Church. Volunteering at will at her beloved Second Baptist Church. In the employment industry, to name a few, she worked at St. Thomas Hospital, Western Reserve Hospital, National City Bank, Akron Board of Education, Giant Eagle Supermarket, and Malks Supermarket. Christine was a very busy woman, still working only a few weeks before going home.
Chris was loved by many who called her Momma, Chris, or Ms. Chris, by a host of children besides her own. She loved all of them. Although she had five beautiful sisters, she developed a host of sisters along the way. She will be deeply missed by her best friends Rose Davis (56 plus years) and Gayle Mitchell (50 plus years), and many, many other close friends. She was always there to dig in and help anyone in need of a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, an ear to listen, and a joyful burst of laughter. Whatever it was, she was there for you.
Her hobbies included bingo, cards, cooking, and fishing.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Dorthy Carroll, mother and father-in law Gladys Simon and Leon Simon, Sr., son Ricardo D. Simon, sisters Doris Rogers, Jeanette Conley, and Willie Mae Hooks, and sister-in-law Linda Carroll.
To cherish her memory is Leon Simon, Jr., her loving husband of 50 years, son Ronald Lee Carroll, daughter Jawanne Marie Holmes, step-daughter Stacey Simon, step-son Rico Simon, Goddaughter Lauanna Holt, sisters Lucille Burney and Bernice (Charlie) Mitchell, brother Fred Carroll, brother-in-law Mark Simon, sisters-in-law Sandy (Beach) Broadnax and Tracey (David) Ealg, godson Malachi and special daughter Shawn Smith, grandchildren Tiana, Ashla, Tanecka, Jimmie, Lil Ronnie, Patience, Victoria, Jayaire, Neolle, Layla, Zachariah, Truli, Denver, and a host of other grandchildren who called her nanna, Chris, or grandma Chris, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
