CHRISTINE MEEKS (JACKSON) was born December 27, 1930 in Vance, Mississippi to the late Jim Meeks and Georgia Ann Martin Meeks (Amos.) She was baptized at an early age in Vance, Mississippi. She was the first born of four children; siblings Gracie Vance, Barbara Hunter, and Curtis Morris preceded her in death.
Christine married Captain Jackson (deceased) in 1951, and to this union four (4) children were born; Georgia Ann, Leevator, Prince (preceded her in death) Joyce Denise (preceded her in death), Charles Jackson (stepson).
Christine joined Fidelity Baptist Church under Rev. LeAndrew Johnson, where she served as a deaconess, choir member and mother of the church. She loved being outside and working in her yard with her garden, flowers and fruit trees. She canned what she produced and shared with family. Christine was a trained seamstress and tailor. She made the majority of the clothing for herself and her children. She also loved to crochet and made beautiful hats, scarves and blankets. Christine loved to travel and visited many places such as Europe and the West Indies. She lived on 84th and Wade Park for over 60 years and participated in the street club. Christine retired from Madonna Nursing Home, where she worked as a nurse’s aide for nearly twenty (20) years.
Christine loved bringing the family together for dinners on holidays and on Sundays. She was a jack-of- all trades as she was always working on something around the house. She was always available and supportive of her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children; Georgia, Leevator, (Prince, Joyce and Charles preceded her in death.) Siblings; Barbara, Gracie, (Curtis preceded her in death.) Grandchildren; Leshawnda, Stephen, Derrick, Prince, Bobby, Jermel, Lauren, Courtney, Cora, Vivian (Ed), Charles, Jr., John, (Jackie) (Emma Jean preceded her in death.), great grand children, great, great grand children, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
