Cleveland Chaney was born August 26, 1936 in Whitfield Alabama to Lillie Chaney and Eddie Coleman.
Cleve was the youngest of 10 siblings. Sisters Lucy Ann, Ethel, Carrie, Jo Ella & Lou Ella, brothers Bob, Clay, Charlie and Thomas all preceded him in death.
He attended Townsen Missionary Baptist school and church in Wards Ala. Cleveland sang in the choir with his mother and twin sisters Jo Ella and Lou Ella. Cleve was well known to lead “Jesus loves me”.
Cleveland was a huge fan of all Cleveland sports teams, he has watched every Western movie and tv show and loved action adventure movies.
When he was a preteen he moved to Cleveland with his mother and twin sisters. He later worked at a grocery store, several factory jobs but became a truck driver and crew leader for the city of East Cleveland until he retired.
Cleveland’s first daughter is Toni Ferguson, granddaughter Rochelle Ferguson-Reed (Adam), grandson Howard Ferguson Jr., (Xandra), great granddaughter Jalisa, great grandson Howard III and Hayden preceded in death by great grandson De’Shawn Vaugh and great granddaughter Brianna Ferguson.
Cleveland later married the love of his life Georgia (Johnson) June 17, 1961. In this union he has a daughter Carole, son Carl (Stephanie) and grandson Carl Vincent Chaney.
Cleve has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
