Cornelius J. Strickland Sr. was born August 10, 1970 in Cleveland , Ohio and peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday ,January 12, 2025, at the age of 54.
Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Cornelius accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age at First Community Baptist Church under the late Ocie Williams. Where he would continue to go on serving the Kingdom of God and winning souls to Christ until his last breath.
He was a proud graduate of East High School, widely known for his positive spirit and his smile that could light up any room. As a true lover of ministry, Cornelius was deeply rooted in his faith, later becoming a dedicated servant and minister at The Word Church where he passionately served the Lord and fiercely upheld the sanctity of God’s house, until relocating out of state.
Cornelius’ love for his family was immeasurable. He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife, Tas’ya Strickland; his beloved children, Cornelius J. Strickland Jr., Teonia Mitchell, Correna Strickland, and his cherished mother, Linda Strickland-Rencher; his beloved grandson, Auden Strickland; and his siblings. He also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by his kindness.
As an extraordinary man, a hard worker and a man of many talents, Cornelius spent years working in the Management Hospitality/Restaurant industry, where his passion for people shined. He was an incredible dancer and athlete, a brother to many, and a true friend who always uplifted those around him. He will forever be remembered for his generosity, his dedication to helping the community, and his steadfast commitment to family and faith.
He was a man who embodied kindness, loyalty, and strength. His love for his wife, children, grandson, and mother and extended family was unparalleled. Whether he was cooking up a feast, sharing a laugh, or encouraging someone with his wisdom, Cornelius lived a life full of purpose, compassion, and joy. He loved to dance, passionate about the sound of music, and enjoyed the wonders of travel.
His legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
