Damon Demetrius Antoine, affectionately known as, “D-Twon,” made his entrance into this world on July 28, 1973, to Stephanie Antoine and Thomas “Tom Tom” Wilkins, in Akron, Ohio. He departed our presence on April 24, 2023, leaving us with much love and many memories. Although Damon called Akron, OH home, he traveled and made memories in Nevada and California as well. Damon met no strangers. He was talkative, full of energy and life, and loved to laugh and to make other people laugh. He could know you for 30 years or 30 minutes; he would still carry on an enthusiastic conversation with you. He was a boxing fan. He even got to try his hand at professional boxing. He had a golden smile. When you saw it, you just had to smile too. Damon had a special talent for telling a 2-minute story in 10, but that’s okay because he had you laughing or completely enthralled for that extra 8 minutes.
Damon truly loved his family; family was very important to him. If he considered you a part of his family-friend circle, you were likely there for life. He did not care in what way you were his family. You could be blood-related, half, step, in-law, officially/unofficially adopted, long-lost, new-found or any other connection. He just loved you—period—and with ALL his energy. He could argue points with you, with just as much energy, but he couldn’t hold a grudge for too long. He was a cool dude in the streets, but he was not afraid to talk about his life’s mistakes, in case it could help someone, and not embarrassed to talk about God.
Damon is preceded in death by special Great-Aunt Elsie Andrus, Mom Stephanie Antoine, beloved sister, Jamesetta Antoine; aunts Angela Antoine and Carmen Crosby, uncle Bernard Antoine; grandparents Edward Henderson, Leona Antoine and Mozell Kelly; Infant daughter; cousins Bernard Antoine and Willinquia Jewz, brother Prince Marvin Tyler and niece LaShondra Brown.
