D’Angelo Darrell Alcorn affectionally referred to as “D”, was born in Akron, Ohio. He attended Akron Public Schools – Mrs. Saro at Stewart for preschool; Ms.
Carafelli at Glover CLC for kindergarten and 1st grade. He found his place and came out his shell at Crouse CLC in 2nd and 3rd grade with Ms. Jackow, where he learned
to read and write. He was the smallest kid in the classroom, he was a 2nd grader when he joined the secondary classroom of 3rd -5th graders. As Ms. Jackow stated,
he could have been intimated by the other kids, but he wasn’t. The teacher and assistants referred to him as “Tiny” because he was the smallest and even though he
was the smallest in the class, he never backed down from a challenge.
D’Angelo was diagnosed with apraxia of speech (a disease where the brain doesn’t communicate with the mouth and causes speech delays), but everyone still understood his words and he didn’t mind pulling out his communication device if he needed to get his point across. D’Angelo was very smart maintaining merit and honor roll. D’Angelo had so many friends at school, and he was loved by all his peers. Everyone in the classroom loved interacting with D’Angelo.
D’Angelo came from a loving home with loving parents and a big brother that he looked up to often referring to him as “bro-bro”. His brother was his best friend. He loved sneaking up to his room and getting on his PS5 watching YouTube videos, playing Fortnite and 2K. D’Angelo would laugh, rap, dance and fight with his brother. He didn’t care his brother was 6 years older than him, he wasn’t backing down from him. He loved pranking him sometimes taking things too far like the time he sprayed his taco with bleach. D’Angelo and his brother were truly inseparable.
D’Angelo was a mama’s boy but also daddy’s road dawg. He loved cuddling and laying with his mom following her around the house. Driving her crazy at times and loved her babying him. He knew he could get away with a lot more things with mama versus dad. He was so affectionate and gentle with his mama, hugging and kissing her. Every time she got her hair done, he always told her, her hair was nice. He gave his mama the love she needed at times. D’Angelo loved rapping and dancing with his dad. They shared a bond through music. He would wrestle with his dad. Ever since he was a baby he loved when his dad “rough housed” with him. He loved to be thrown around by his dad. D’Angelo was just the baby boy his parents needed to remind them about the love they shared.
D’Angelo was the coolest 8-year-old ever! He was the life of the party. Always dancing, smiling and loving on everyone he came in contact with. D had friends of all ages from toddlers to the elderly. Everyone loved D’Angelo. D knew when someone needed a hug, a laugh, a wrestling match, a funny text (often sneaking his mom’s phone sending random text messages) or a quick TikTok dance to cheer them up. D’Angelo loved McDonald’s, asking for a large Big Mac meal with a Sprite and would eat it all by himself. He also loved Raising Canes, Taco Bell, and Dominos in
fact, he made sure his parents brought him Domino’s pizza every Friday. D loved candy so much as well, every time someone went to the store, he would ask them to bring him back candy.
D’Angelo loved fashion. He wanted to pick out his own clothes. Some days he changed his outfit 2-3 times a day. His style was comfortable…jogging suits with hoodies, basketball shorts, crocs, Yeezy foam runners and following “bro-bro” and Dad he loved Jordans, he became a true sneaker head. In fact, for Christmas this year all he asked for was black sneakers.
D’Angelo was mostly known for his dancing. He wasn’t shy at all when he came to busting a move. His Mama loved to record him dancing and he loved to be recorded,
sometimes propping the phone up recording himself. He loved hip-hop and rap music, and he could dance to any tune. He loved jamming in the car with his dad not so much mama because she would often listen to R&B so he would take her phone and turn the song. D’Angelo will be missed by so many people, his fun classmates, teachers and teachers’ assistants, his big and little cousins, that all loved to hang out with him. He always made his aunts and uncles laugh; and his grandparents loved spending quality time with him; and other close relatives, his parents’ and brother’s friends.
He will be missed the most by his loving parents and role model big brother. D’Angelo precede in death by his Great-grandmother Eva Henderson, Aunt Traci Mayle and Uncle Alan Alcorn whom we all know were waiting with welcoming arms when he transitioned this world.
