Daryl Defoster Bowen made his heavenly transition on March 9, 2023.
Born on April 1, 1950, Daryl was the firstborn son of Rayfield and Thelma Bowen. Growing up a member of the North Hill Community, Daryl attended and graduated from North High School in Akron, Ohio. Upon graduation, He worked for Ohio Bell before being drafted into the Armed Services. He served his country during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged from the United States Army upon his service completion. He returned to Akron and worked for companies, such as Firestone.
Daryl was an honest, loyal family member and friend, who always came through when called upon. He had a passion for boxing and could discuss the history of this sport with any expert. He made family functions a great time, and showed up for his family in times of need.
He was preceded in death by parents, Rayfield and Thelma Bowen and special friend, Tracy Veal.
Daryl is survived by brother, Terrence (Valerie); sisters, Thelma Raye of Atlanta, Georgia and Denise Bowen of Akron, Ohio; four nephews, Demond, Loren, Damion and Tyler; and a host of other relatives and friends.
