Delores S. Davis, affectionately known as “Dee Dee”, peacefully departed this world on January 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the joy of knowing her. Born on March 11, 1932, to Willie and Daisy Biddings, she spent her life filling hearts, homes, and bellies with love and laughter.
Delores was a native of Akron where she graduated from South High School and retired from Summit County Job and Family Services after 30 years. She was a founding member of Mt. Haven Missionary Baptist Church, where she actively participated until she was physically limited. A life’s mission of caregiving, she would offer her talents in the kitchen, visiting the sick & shut in and lended her generous spirit to anyone in need. She had this extraordinary gift of making each person she met feel like they were her favorite and many believed that they were. If you left her house hungry or minus a “granny sack”, it was your own fault. That was her magic.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Robert P. Shelton Sr.; children: Sandra L. Shelton, Robert P. Shelton Jr., and Edwin K. Davis; stepsons: Ted Davis, Sr.; siblings: James Foster, Tiny Biddings, Willie J. Biddings, Geraldine McBeth, Ruby Jean Johnson, and Luticia Jackson.
She is survived by loving son Terrence D. Shelton; stepson, David (Gayle) Davis; sister, Marsha A Parks; brother, David H.(Thelma) Biddings, Sr., 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, former colleagues, and friends.
A tribute to a life well lived will be held February 7, 2025 at United Baptist Church, 1005 S Hawkins Ave., Akron, OH 44320, 12:00 p.m. Calling hours at 11 a.m. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Condolences may be directed to 1045 Cadillac Blvd., Akron, OH 44320.
