Deloris Fitzpatrick Sanders Humbert, age 91, of Akron, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2025.
Deloris was born on May 2, 1934, in Escambia County, Florida, to Lodie Fitzpatrick and Willie Dean. She later moved north, where she built a life centered on faith, family, service, and love.
She was a lifelong and faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, attending since childhood alongside her mother. She deeply loved her pastor and church members, whom she considered family. Her faith guided her life, and she also participated in a senior citizens group where she enjoyed fellowship with other seniors.
Deloris was first married to Kenny Sanders, and later married William G. Humbert, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1990. She was a devoted mother to two daughters, Veronica Lee Humbert-Williams and Sonja Sanders Williams, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, Willie Carter (Mary) and Virgie Carter Taylor (Robert) being the last living sibling of her family.
Deloris was a very loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Craig, Christin, Courtney, Cameron Humbert, and Casey Williams; a great-grandmother to Javion Brooks, Rhiley Hackney, and Million Hackney; and a great-great-grandmother to Anyx Lauren Brooks.
Deloris also leaves to cherish her memory, Nephew, Robert Taylor Jr., as well as a host of Nieces, Great-Nieces, Great-Nephews, additional Family, Friends, and Loved Ones.
Deloris had a personality like no other. She loved to shop, shop, shop, and was well known for always finding the very best deals. She took great joy in bargain hunting and would happily call or visit family and friends just to share — and proudly brag — about how good of a deal she had found.
Her love for fashion led her to a successful career with the Avon Company, where she worked as a District Sales Manager. Even after retiring and moving back to Akron, Ohio, she continued selling Avon while retired, doing what she truly loved.
Deloris enjoyed traveling the world, going on cruises, attending plays and musicals, watching her favorite soap operas, and especially loved going out to see Christmas lights during the holiday season. Her favorite color was purple.
She was known as one of the kindest and most loving people you could ever know. She was soft-spoken and gentle, and no one ever heard her raise her voice or say a curse word. Even when she did not agree with something, she had a way of expressing herself so kindly and respectfully that you understood she was serious — without ever making you feel small.
Deloris attended South Junior High School, raced in a Soap Box Derby, and truly lived life to the fullest. While living in Detroit, she always made sure to come home for the holidays to spend time with family and friends.
There is so much that could be said about the 91 wonderful years of her life, but above all, Deloris will be remembered for her faith, kindness, grace, and the countless memories she created with those she loved.
We rejoice knowing she has gone home to be with the Lord.
