DeShawn Lemar Davis, age 28, passed away on November 26, 2022.
Deshawn Lemar Davis, affectionately known as Dee, Kobe, or Hulle, was born on May 23, 1994, to LeShawn Davis and Shandell Polk, in Cleveland Ohio. Little did they know that his arrival into this world would literally change their lives forever.
As a child, Deshawn was fearless, inquisitive, fun-loving, generous, and kind. Like most boys, he developed a love for sports early on, playing basketball for Holy Name Elementary School, football for the 88th Street Browns Football League, and basketball for his High School basketball team.
Deshawn was popular among his peers, which explains why his house was the “go to” house. On any given day, you could find his friends hanging out or sleeping over and he never minded sharing his home—or the love of his mother. Deshawn’s popularity continued throughout high school and ultimately led to him being crowned “Prom King.”
After graduating from Design Lab Early College High School in 2012, Deshawn went on to study Sports Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Deshawn didn’t complete his college degree but found a way to make light of the situation by admitting to playing more spades and doing less work while in college. Being the light-hearted jokester that he was, his college card party became a running joke between he and his mom, one they coined “the $20,000 spades party”, a reference to the cost of his tuition LOL.
Deshawn may not have obtained his degree, but that didn’t discourage him, nor did it alter his mindset that he was destined for greatness. Deshawn would always say, and I quote, “I was supposed to been rich, but I’m going to get rich!”
Deshawn was employed by and enjoyed his job with the Cleveland Clinic. When Deshawn wasn’t working, he loved to vacation, go to parties, kick-it with family and friends, listen to music, sing, dance, joke around and play that gosh darn PS5 EVERYDAY! But what he loved MOST of all was spending quality time with his two beautiful children, Dayton (Dada) and Har’moni (Moni).
In 2017, Deshawn willingly accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and later became a member of Grace Community Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Euclid Ohio. It is here that Deshawn strengthened his faith in God, while fellowshipping and building new spiritual connections. In typical Kobe fashion, he joined the church’s men’s basketball league.
Deshawn has always had an innate passion for helping others. His former manager declared that “we lost a good man.” He said that he remembers Deshawn’s engaging personality and his willingness to always teach and encourage others.
Sadly, Deshawn left this earthly life on November 26, 2022. Deshawn sweetheart, you will be sorely missed! Your light, your love, your smile, your heart, and your soul, will continue to shine through your kids. You believed in God, so we believe that you are no doubt richer than you could’ve even imagined. We love you; we’ll miss you, and if we know your mother well, your death will not be in vain. You’ve been the driving force behind everything she’s ever done. From “fixing her life” so that yours could be better, to getting multiple college degrees, and lastly creating Teen Kingz in your honor.
Deshawn leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy of love: his children, Dayton Kobe Davis (Dada) and Har’moni Makenzie Davis- Gwin (Moni). His mother LeShawn Davis, father Shandell Polk, and brother Kiev Frazier and Shandell Polk (Lil Shandell deceased). Grandparents Charlotte Davis, Dennis King (Yvette King), Linda Polk (Willie Zimmerman deceased); Great Grandmother Olivia Davis, Fannie King (deceased); Aunts Leza Davis, Theresa Davis, Francina Davis (deceased), Marshare Polk, Antoinette Polk, Tiffani Polk; Uncles Lee Davis, Norman Davis, William Davis, Carlton Polk, and a host of cousins and friends.
