He embarked on a career path that included employment at GE, Burlington Coat Factory, and Rite Aid, showcasing his skills in various retail management positions. Known for his impeccable style, Dewey was a true gentleman who adorned himself in a suit and tie every day, reflecting his elegance and grace in both appearance and demeanor.
In 2008, Dewey encountered the love of his life, Kathy Halbert. His gentle and affectionate nature was evident in the way he showered Kathy with love, care, and gifts. After a beautiful courtship, Dewey and Kathy exchanged vows and were married, establishing a deep and loving partnership, although they did not have children together.
On November 30, 2023, Dewey Sims Jr. was called home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and elegance. He reunites with his beloved parents, Dewey Sr. and Anna Mae Sims, along with his brother Leon Sims and sister Deborah Sims Ellington, in the peaceful embrace of eternity.
Survived by his loving wife, Kathy Halbert Sims (Vernice and Mario Halbert), Dewey is also remembered by sisters-in-law Marian Chancellor, Janice Halbert (Amos Miles), Pamela Holmes (Barkus), and Joyce Sims. His memory lives on through his niece, Tinisha Herber Fryerson, and great-nephew Jamari, with whom he shared cherished moments. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous relatives and friends whose lives he touched with his grace and kindness.
