Diane Marie McClendon, affectionately known as Tina to her family, was born on October 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Gladys McClendon.
Diane moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to live with her grandmother, Zollie McClendon, shortly after she was born. She attended the Church of God in Christ until she and the rest of the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1960. Once the family came to Cleveland, they settled on 123rd and Ashbury, where she attended another COGIC church.
Diane was educated in the Cleveland Metropolitan School System and graduated from Glenville High School.
Diane was always the life of the party and hosted Bid Whist card games at her home, where she loved to serve wine. She was always laughing and joking. You could hear her say, “Put ya cards on the table,” and “Let the grown folks get on the table,” because spades was a child’s game as far as she was concerned.
Diane (Aunt Tina) used to invite all the kids over to Gladys’ house for sleepovers.
Diane was certified as an STNA and worked at various places in Cleveland. She enjoyed working and caring for those in need. She had dreams of going to culinary school because she loved to cook.
Diane always liked going to the casinos and racetracks.
Diane, at the age of 70, left this earth peacefully in her sleep on January 30, 2026.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Gladys McClendon; her brother, Larry “Hunchie” McClendon; and her grandmother, Zollie McClendon.
Diane leaves to mourn her passing: wife Khalett Harrison; son Sherrod (Man) McClendon and daughter Trenise (Niecy) McClendon; sister Dayle McClendon; aunts Barbara Brown, Ruby Cody (Gary), Mable Rice, and Mary Mockabee (Kenneth); nieces Tyger McClendon and Taylor McClendon; grandchildren Sharica McClendon, Charnae McClendon, Chase McClendon, and Shannon Dean; and a host of family and friends.
