Donald Carter known as “Donnie” was born on March 29, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born to the union of the late Clyde Carter and late Eddie Mae Carter. Donnie attended Cleveland Public Schools. He was introduced to the Lord by his grandmother Ms. Minnie Reed and was baptized at an early age at the Pilgrim Baptist Church. Donnie later met the love of his life Patricia Ann Carter and from their marriage two children were born Donise and Donald. He is also the father of two daughters DeVaughn and Donnella aka Tessa.
Donnie grew up with the love of boxing that started at the age of 9 at the P.O.C Boxing Club where he found his passion learning the sport of boxing and teaching it to young people. Donnie participated in many Golden Glove Tournaments. He then later became a devoted boxing coach and contributed to the success of many Cleveland area boxers. Donnie was recognized by the City of Cleveland for his outstanding work with the youth in the City of Cleveland.
Donnie known as Coach “Don” was so much more. He was a loving father, uncle, grandfather, mentor, and wonderful friend to many people. He loved his family and he helped everyone. Donnie will be truly missed by everyone especially his boxing family. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters Donise, DeVaughn (Levy), Donnella aka Tessa (Darryl). Son Donald (Nanette) and also leaves to cherish two sisters Gina and Angela Carter and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and He is preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Ann Carter. Parents Eddie Mae and Clyde Carter. Brother Waynie Carter, sisters Patricia Booker and Gwendolyn Gaines. Granddaughter Dondrea LaNise Carter also known as “Donnie”.
