Donell Gaston was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 14, 1952. He was the younger of two brothers born to the late Woodrow Wilson Gaston and Margaret Martin Gaston.
Donell was nurtured in a home founded on Christianity. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and became a member of Provident Baptist Church.
Donell was an avid reader, he graduated from Warrensville Heights High School and went on to acquire his Associates, Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Computer Systems Engineering. Donell traveled the United States with his work setting up major computer systems for places such as the Cleveland Metropolitan Schools, J.P. Morgan Chase, Citibank, HSBC and the Blackrock Group. He had a quiet manner about himself which made it easy for him to make friends wherever he traveled and worked.
Donell was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life Roberta Treadway on April 18,1981 in Dayton Ohio. Shortly thereafter they moved to Evanston, Illinois and were blessed with their first child, a son, Donell “Dorian” Gaston. A daughter, Chelsea Margaret, was born in March of 1988 and passed away shortly after birth.
Donell loved music, playing the guitar, playing tennis and bicycling. He could often be seen riding his bicycle up the north coast of Chicago with his son Dorian on the back.
God saw that Donell’s good work on earth was completed and He called him home to his final destination. Donell transitioned from life on earth to life with his heavenly Father on November 12, 2025, while staying in Bohol, Philippines. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife Dr. Roberta Treadway Gaston, beloved son, Donell “Dorian” Gaston (Karis Christian), cherished granddaughters, Zaya Nicole Gaston, Kennedy Marie Gaston and Kalea Ossie Gaston, niece, Jennifer Yvette Gaston, sister-in-law, Cathy Bodison Gaston and a host of other relatives and friends.
With hearts full of Love and immeasurable sorrow we celebrate your transition to join your daughter, brother, mother and father. You will be greatly missed.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
