Dorothy L. Young was born June 6, 1925 in Asheville, NC to Augusta Bolden and Willie (Matthis) Bolden.

Dorothy attended Asheville public school.  Dorothy and James were married for 61 years.  They moved from Asheville NC in 1963 to Akron, OH.  Dorothy worked for Dr. Martha Nelson in their home from 1963 until she retired.  She was a member of Mt. Haven Baptist Church from 1963 until present.  Her hobbies were bowling, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  She was a member of Phoenix Chapter Number 96 O.E.S.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James R. Young; daughters, Margaret Young and Mary P. Farr; sons, James Timothy Young and Dwight E. Young; seven brothers, Pelham, Devoe, James, Harding, Ozzie, Joseph II, Claudie II, and sister Barbara Jean Sullivan.

Dorothy departed this life Friday, December 8, 2017.  She leaves to cherish her memory son, Marvin Young and wife Brenda Johnson-Young; daughter, Gloria (Kenneth) Larry; son, Kenneth R. Young and Carla Ross; sisters, Peresephines Lyles, Cerease Rogers, Shirley Haskins; 30 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, many relatives and friends.
