The following Obituary are the words from Dorothy P. Dozier’s own heart. On October 29, 1992, Sis. Dozier sat down and wrote her own obituary. Much to the family’s surprise we did not have to construct her history from notes and other people’s memories, we are just going to let her tell her own story. Enjoy!
~The Dorothy Dozier Family
On the morning of March 28, 2025, Sister Dorothy P. Dozier was welcomed into the eternal presence of the Blessed Savior, whom she loved, served and honored all the days of her life.
Dorothy, the youngest child of the late Will and Mary Ceasar, was born October 1, 1929, in Birmingham, Alabama. It was during her tender years that she accepted Christ as her personal savior and received the sacrament of baptism at the age of 15 at The South Elyom Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Rev. H. L. Rhone. There she served as pianist, secretary, member of the Willing Workers, Young Matrons, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the choir.
On December 29, 1947, Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie James Dozier; to this union six children were born. Upon moving to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1956 Sis. Dozier united with the Come Home Baptist Church pastored by Rev. M.D. Wilson. In 1964, she joined Mt. Hebron Baptist Church pastored by the late Rev. Louis Fredrick; now pastored by Rev. Willo Early. She served as Secretary/Clerk for 28 years, supervised the youth department for 20 years, played the piano for the choirs for many years, was a member of the Deaconess, and President of the Senior Usher Board.
Dorothy enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and working in the kitchen. She was a loving and devoted mother, and was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Please know that there are pages of other friends and family members that were near and dear to Sis. Dozier’s heart that were not listed. We are asking that you don’t hold it against her or the family if people were not included. Her memory will always live on in the hearts of her loved ones, and those who were blessed to have known her.
“To All my children, who served in the military, YOU are honored and cherished!”
