Eddie Lee Euell, age 73, passed away quietly in his home with his wife, whom he loved dearly and who cared for him during his battle with cancer, on Thursday, January 26, 2023. He was born in Memphis, TN, on August 13, 1949, son of the late Goldie Mae Johnson and William Henry Euell. Eddie retired from AIM National lease in 2013. Just as the ebbs and flow of the ocean tide are varying and ever changing, so was Eddie’s life. The range of experiences and life circumstances afforded him a wisdom and testimony that many people only read about. In his middle-aged years, you could find Eddie speaking of God’s mercy and sharing the wisdom of his lived experiences, or as he would put it, “this is what I lived, not what someone told me.”
Eddie, who was affectionately known as “Pop Pops,” cherished the life he lived and thrived as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend. Eddie greeted with a warm smile, with a kind word, a moving gesture and always wanting to offer and leave others with a word of prayer.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Goldie Mae Johnson, and William Henry Euell; his sister, Dorothy Euell Mickens; and brother, Elder Harry Lee Euell, Sr. (Barbara Jean).
Eddie is survived by his wife of 23 years, Veronica-Cook Euell, who nurtured and cared for him until his final moment of life unwavering in her resolve and love. He is also survived by his children, Erika Muhammad (Khalifah) of Erie, PA, Ansel Lockett (Tarteasha) of Atlanta, GA, Sonja Warner of Cleveland, Ohio, Jordan Eddie Euell of Chicago, IL, and Willie K. Cook (Dioswal) of Akron, OH. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister, Roberta Euell of Erie, PA, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
