El-Rashid Adams Sr. better known as “Rock” was born on June 5, 1969 in Cleveland, OH. Born to Rachel Lee Adams (Gregory Allen) and the late Ronald Cunningham.
In his early years he attended Alfred A. Benesch and George Washington Carver for elementary school where he met Jack Mizenko and has had a close relationship from 5th grade to his passing. A. B. Hart for middle school. In 1988, he graduated high school at East Technical High School where he earned his high school diploma.
El-Rashid later attended Harding Memorial Barber School where he received his Barber’s License in 2002. In 2009, he started his own trucking company “Hand in Hand Express, LLC”, where he later became a professional CDL truck driver.
Always a hard worker and very determined. El-Rashid was a jack of all trades. Dipping his hands into many trades such as real estate, home improvement, moving services, carpentry and much more. For many years of his life he enjoyed boxing at Lonnie Burton Recreational Center.
He also had a military selection with the United States Navy with an honorable discharge in the early 90s.
El-Rashid leaves to cherish five children: Tierra McCoy (Ricky), Cierra McCoy, El-Rashid Adams Jr, Tamara McCoy, and Allante Adams. One bonus child: I’Keyia Muhammed.
Thirteen grandchildren: Ric’Kayla Hamilton, Gerald Still Jr, Emir Adams, Ricky Hamilton, Sah’Ryah Harris, Emani Bratton, Amiyah Moore, Erin Adams, Elijah Adams, Evyn Adams, Ethan Adams, Kingston Malone and Troy Adams.
Five sisters: Debbie Adams, Cheryl Monique Adams, Ge’Quise Allen, Pamela Buckingham (Brian), Porsche Cunningham. A favorite cousin turned sister Shundale Adams. One brother: Ronald Cunningham (Tenishia).
Four step brothers: Dennis Dortch (Teidra), Gregory R Allen (Karlena), Gregory D McGowan(Chiara), DeAndre Allen. Bonus brothers: Robert Taylor and The Goodfellas Bestfriends: Marvin Weakley and Gus Henry.
He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Rock knew how to brighten up a room with his infectious smile. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.
