Elaine Dees Sanders was born in Tuskegee Alabama on June 8, 1934, to the late Willie and Lula Mae Dees. She was the middle child of their three children. She was saved and baptized early in life at St. Mark Baptist Church in Tuskegee. Elaine graduated from Tuskegee Institute High in 1952. She later came to Cleveland, OH where she worked at Metro Health for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member of East Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 40 years.
She was united in Holy matrimony to Alfred Sanders on March 30, 1963. They were married for 44 years until his death.
A little-known fact about Elaine is she was the longest living homeowner on Martin Luther Kin Jr. Drive, where she lived for over 50 years. She was the matriarch of the street.
Elaine loved shopping and spending great times with her neighbors and traveling with her best friend of over 60 years Joan Ragulen who was more like a sister. Another friend, Annie Shephard worked with Elaine and Joan for many years together at Metro Health. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Preceding her in death are husband Alfred, her two brothers; Arthur L. Dees (Elizabeth, deceased) and Charles Dees (Vonnie). Three stepchildren, Laverne Settles, Barbara Sanders, Alfred Sanders Jr. She leaves to mourn her memory, nieces and nephews; Sheila Barham (Clyde Jr.), Piper Elaine Dees Swain (Michael), Pamela Dees(deceased),
Michael Williams (Peggy, deceased), Patrice Nunn, Jerri Williams, Theresa Williams, Robin Dees, Pamela Scott (Ronald), Richelle Coleman, Sandra Dees, Billy Dees, Nicholas Dees(deceased) and a host of family and friends.
