Elizabeth Catrese Brand was born on August 25, 1943, in Tuskegee, Alabama to the late Robert Browning Sr. and Minnie Manley. Liz completed her education in the Macon County School System and graduated from Tuskegee Institute High School at the age of sixteen.

After graduation, she moved with her mother to New York, Michigan and finally Cleveland, Ohio. She was employed with the Cleveland State Mental Hospital from 1961 – 1968. During the seven-year span she forged lifelong friendships, and it was there that she would meet her husband Jeff Brand.

Jeff and Liz were married on April 27, 1963. They welcomed their first son Jeffrey in 1972 followed by their second son, Rodney in 1974. By this time, she was employed with the US Government working for the Department of Defense as a Military Pay Claims Adjuster from April 1971 until her retirement in August of 1998.

Upon retirement, she enjoyed camping and fishing with her family as often as possible. Liz loved traveling back to Alabama, spending time with her siblings, especially at Family Reunions. She also enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, cooking for her family, playing cards and an occasional trip to the Casino.

She was proud to be the mother to Jeffrey and Rodney. Jeff and Liz emphasized to their sons the importance of an education and hard work at an early age; she was active in the PTA, and she also knew all the neighborhood kids. Being a grandmother filled her heart with tremendous joy. Liz adored her three grandsons, having a nickname for each of them and taking care of them until they started school.

Liz departed this life on April 8, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Minnie Browning Sr., her siblings Robert Browning (Corrine), Rose Johnson (William), Louvenia Harrington, In Laws, Jeff and Gatsy Brand, Otha Brand (Lousie), Hubbard Brand (Pearlie), Joseph Brand, Marvin Brand (Ruth) John Brand (Gladys), Lillie Youngblood (Jessie) and Ester Logan. She leaves to cherish fond memories to her loving husband of 62 years, Jeff Brand, two sons, Jeffrey (Tammy), Rodney (Angela), three brothers, Charles (Marie) Browning, Carl (Ann) Browning and Paul Browning. The three loves of her life, the boys, Bryce, Brelan, and Zyan Brand, as well as host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, co-workers, and her close friend Violet.
