Essie Mae Dallas was born June 15, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Charles and Zeno Duncan. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Duncan, Jr. and two sons, Ronald, and Roland Dallas.
Essie was educated in the Cleveland Public school system. As an adult, she returned to complete her education and obtained her GED.
Essie married James Dallas; they became Jehovah Witnesses on one accord in 38 years of marriage. Essie and James were the proud parents of Raymond Duncan, Rickey Duncan, and Reginald Dallas.
Eassie was a loving sister to Beatrice and Ruby. She was looked up to by her sisters as a mother role model in their life growing up. Essie was a devoted grandmother.
Essie was a devoted domestic worker for over forty years, becoming more of a family member than an employee. She loved to play cards and eat crab legs. She was even known as the “Crab Leg Queen.”
Essie leaves to cherish her memories; sons Raymond, Ricky, and Reginald; two sisters, Beatrice Johnson, and Ruby Mitchell, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
