Chapter One
Eugene Allen Butts Sr. was born on January 30, 1939, in Akron, Ohio. Eugene was the last of eight children born to the late Lemon Butts Sr. and Emily (Kelsey) Butts.
Chapter Two
Eugene was educated in the Akron Public Schools, graduating in 1958 from South High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army, his Duty Station was at Ft Hood, in Killen, TX.
Chapter Three
After returning to Akron, Eugene went to work at the Chrysler Stamping Plant in Twinsburg, Ohio. He retired after 43 years of service. While working at Chrysler, Eugene had a side business selling coffee. He used the profits from his coffee business to support the Holy Trinity C.O.G.I.C. Sunday School and other local ministries Sunday Schools. Eugene was a member of Holy Trinity C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of his elder brother, Pastor Lemon Butts Jr. He also dedicated his time by driving the church bus and singing in the Men’s Ensemble.
Chapter Four
Eugene met and married Beverly Edith Davis. They loved to travel and go on cruises. They spent many years exploring exotic places, like Puerto Rico, Aruba, and Hawaii. One of their best memories is going to the Hoover Dam. In his retirement, he loved to watch old tv shows, the black and white Perry Mason, Matlock, and Law and Order. And he loved his coffee.
Chapter Five
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Lemon Sr. and Emily Butts; brothers, Lemon Jr., Daniel, Cornelius, Leon, and Beverly; sisters, Roseann and Gladys Felton; youngest son, Dale Butts; and the mother of his children, Diane Butts.
Eugene leaves a devoted wife of 31 years, Beverly Edith Butts; daughter, Darlessia Bradford; son, Eugene Allen (Kathrine) Butts Jr.; five grandchildren, Anthony Sams, Arielle Pittman, Kayla, Tyrell, and Maryia Butts; 7 great-grandchildren; caretakers, Pastor Albert and Lady Marnetta Lewis of Cleveland, Ohio; special niece, Beverly Butts of Houston, TX; and a host of family, friends, and former co-workers.
