Evalyn Woods was born in West Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 22, 1941, to Shed Pollard and Ruth Ann Byrd.
Evalyn was married at the age of 19 to Robert Lee Woods. Their union produced three daughters and one son, Robert S. Woods of Cleveland, Rena Woods-Washington, husband (Stratford Washington) of Dallas, Texas, Shannon Woods-Price of Cleveland, and Devvon Woods of Bratenahl.
On December 14, 1958, Evalyn was Baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and dedicated her life to serving Jehovah God. After the passing of her husband in 1982, as a single mother she continued to raise her children to serve Jehovah.
Evalyn enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, traveling, road trips, Christian gathering, and cooking. She also enjoyed attending Country Music Concerts with her friend Judy. Evalyn loved being a part of Jehovah’s Organization and the friends in the Congregation. Evalyn was always willing to help others, whether it was giving you a ride to the meetings, or driving you to the grocery store, or baking her famous coconut cake. She found joy being with her friends, Jane, Gail, Judy, Blondie, Vinita, and Donnie. Evalyn never forgot her Love for Jehovah and the Joy of serving him, even after becoming seriously ill.
Evalyn is survived by her son, Robert; three daughters, Rena, Shannon, and Devvon; grandsons, Chandler, Austin, and Little Robert; granddaughters, Shelby, Chelsea, and Kimyada; great-grandsons, Calen and Koen; sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Vera Pollard, and Bernice Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
