On March 12, 1935, Everlene Chambers was born to Jeff and Mellie Chambers in Booneville, Mississippi. From this union, were also born three sisters, Mary Evelyn Roland (Chambers)-deceased, Hedy Grove, (Chambers)-deceased, Ludie Shinault (Chambers), a brother, James Chambers, and sister Brenda Moment (Robert).
Everlene graduated from Booneville Negro School with honors and was homecoming queen of her class. She was an exceptionally intelligent student according to those who knew her. On July 8, 1952, Everlene married Leonard Young and from that union was born two sons, Charles E. Young (deceased) and Leonard Young Jr. (deceased), and two daughters, Linda J. Adams (Young) and Kimberly R. Young. Both Everlene and Leonard had a great sense of style, a trait passed on to their children. Everlene was an excellent wife, homemaker and mother to her children. She was also conscious of her spiritual need (Matt. 5:3) as she was involved in several functions of her faith before coming to Cleveland, Ohio.
In the mid 1960’s, Everlene was contacted by Jehovah’s Witnesses and her spiritual need began to grow and flourish. She was diligent in having her bible study each week with Sister Rivers. She made sure to have a bible study with her children each week out of the “Paradise Lost” book as best she could. She began to participate in the ministry each week with her children in tow.
Everlene dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized on February 3, 1968 and remained a loyal, faithful and humble servant until her death and is assured of a resurrection in God’s New World under the rule of Christ Jesus (John 5:28,29). She was a regular attendee at meetings, assemblies, and conventions including international ones such as, Hong Kong and Chile. She was active in the field ministry for many, many years, although in her later years, her health began to decline.
Everlene leaves to mourn her devoted husband, Leonard, whom she deeply loved, her loving sisters, Ludie Shinault (Buddy-deceased), Brenda Moment (Robert), brother, James (Lillian), her 2 daughters, Linda Adams (Leonard-deceased) and Kimberly Young, her Daughter-in-Law Deborah Young, 2 granddaughters, Monica Bruton, Shaunte’ Walker (Marsean) and great granddaughter, Chenille along with many nieces, nephews, friends and over 8 1/2 million spiritual Brothers and Sisters.
