Floyd Reese, age 72, of Cleveland, Ohio, departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 4, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born to the late Willie J. and Virgie Reese on March 28, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended John F. Kennedy High School. After high school, he was drafted by the U.S. Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. He was a certified welder and abatement professional. He retired from Integrity Environmental Development LLC in May of 2019.
Floyd loved his clothes and was always dressed to impress. Aside from his fly fashion, he had a heart to give to all his friends. They used to say that he would not have much, because if you caught him on the right day he would give all he had away. He was always saying things to make you laugh or think. Half of the time, you didn’t know what he was saying, but he did… and was very sure of it too. One of the things he would always say is “I know I am blessed; I have seen too much and I am still here”.
He was also a music lover. Those who knew him back in the day knew that dancing was what could keep him out all night. He loved all kinds of music, but rap and old school were his go to genres. Future, DMX, Anita Baker, and Nancy Wilson were just a few of his favorite artists. He enjoyed sports as well, and you could not tell him anything about basketball or football. He was “the expert”. In fact he would get into passionate conversations all the time with his brother Marvin.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents Willie J. & Virgie Reese and his sisters: Yolanda Reese, and Vernita Hall. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Cherlyn Renee Reese; mother-in-law, Cheryl Johnson; two sons: Jerome D. Reese & Isaiah D. Reese; two daughters: Kimberly L. Reese & Pastor Charise L. DeLoach (Thomas); two stepsons: Chezarae Jackson, & Ralph Jackson; two grandchildren: Shanna Reese & Mekhi DeLoach; one brother: Pastor Marvin Reese (Gail); three Sisters: Loretta Jennings (Robert), Renee Hendon, Kimberly Coleman (Mark); numerous nieces and nephews that span three generations, eleven grandchildren he helped raise, & a host of family and friends.
