FREDERICK (TONY) SCURRY was born on October 6, 1962, to the late Frederick Scurry and the late Mary Hairston. His stepdad, the late Garland Hairston helped raise Tony and his siblings on 110th in Union, where he attended John Adams High School.

Tony is the beloved husband of Robbin Scurry; loving father of C’aira, Anthony, and Tiymisha; proud grandfather of Andreia, Aleeyah, Alijah, and Ahmad; brother of the late Wanda Weems, Jacqueline Scurry, Garland (Vivian) Hairston, Shannon (Kimberly) Hairston; uncle of Unique, Maurice, Mandrel, Ja’Viere, Kimani, Shannon, Skylar, and Shayne; great-uncle to Maria and Kalyaa; brother-in-law of Tammy (Rodney), Kim (Anderson), and Debra, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

A master chef on the grill, Tony loved to host BBQs during the summer, especially on the Fourth of July, so he could spend time with his family and set off fireworks. He loved going to different fishing spots to cast a line or two. There was never a dull moment with Tony.  He would either make you laugh or talk your ear off, all while showing you love and making sure you had a good meal. You might even go home with a plant he grew.

Tony was so proud of his three children and wanted to shout it to the world. We will miss Tony’s joking ways, his big laugh, and huge heart. His family meant the world to him and he meant the world to his family. He cherished his wife and best friend, Robbin, of 30-plus years and he will always remain in her heart. We will never forget your love for us Fred..Tony..Woody. Tony departed this earth on October 3, 2024.
