Frederick Davis Sr., affectionately known as Fred, was born March 20, 1942 to Willie Davis Sr and Ola B. Davis in Cleveland Ohio. Fred was the youngest of 8 children.
Fred was educated in the Cleveland Public School district. He met and married the love of his life, Betty Bledsoe on April 7, 1962. They went on to have 5 children and additionally raised 3 of their grandchildren. Fred confessed to Christ March 7, 2004 at Jeremiah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Henry Brown. Fred was a member of Rome Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Claudi Williams.
Fred had many friends and co-workers that he enjoyed spending time with from the General Motors Chevy plant where he worked for 41.5 years. He had a love for gambling and playing the Ohio lottery. He especially loved his annual trips to Vegas with wife, family, and friends.
Fred was the epitome of a provider and strong man. He never complained, even after falling ill. Fred enjoyed his wife and family the most. He and his wife Betty, were like “two peas in a pod”. They were inseparable. They enjoyed going for long rides, shopping, watching game shows, and TV judges.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ola Davis, his siblings Christine, Curtis, Carrie Mae, Alice Pearl, Willie Jr, Allen, Beatrice, and grandson Dale Lacy Jr. He leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife, Betty Davis. His children Vickie (Sean), Brenda (Terry), Valencia, Frederick Jr (Shirelle), Lakita (Jimmy), Tyra (Calvin), Raechelle and Raeneisha. His grandchildren Danielle, Romelle, Clarence, Richard, Darrell, Ronelle, Dontez, Tyraan, Devon, Chelsea, Janae, Haley, Cameron and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews surviving sister-in-law, Vernarda. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to his sister-in-law Sarah Todd (Brenda).
Fred will be remembered for his “laid back” persona, strength, his wit, canniness, sharp memory and the special relationships he had with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
