Garrett Jamar Thompson, affectionately known as Owie, was born to Maxine Thompson and William A. Jackson, in Akron, OH on December 11, 1986. Garrett departed this earthly life and gained his eternal wings on April 17, 2021, in Columbus, OH.

 

Owie loved to play his video games and spend time with his close friends. His children, nieces, and nephews meant the world to him. He had the most positive outlook on life, all while dealing with a serious illness. He had a sense of humor like no other and could make anyone laugh. Whenever he was around there was sure to be smiles on faces and laughter in the air.

Garrett was preceded in death by his father, William A. Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory son, Geremiah Thompson (Angel); daughter, Nia Thompson; mother, Maxine Thompson; two brothers, Galen Thompson Sr. and Garland Thompson; special nephews, Galen Thompson Jr., G’hmai Thompson, and Isaiah Thompson; special nieces, Raiven Griggs, Elexus Griggs, Diamond Griggs, and Ny’el Thompson; life partner; Theresa Murphy.

My condolences to Maxine and the family during this hurtful time. Owie was definitely a good father to his children. He supported their every endeavor and always heaped praise and love on them. He was forever giving you updates on their latest achievements as only a proud father could. The time he shared with his children, no doubt will benefit them for years to come, they know their Daddy loved and cherished them. I will miss those moments of debating with him about different sporting events and stars. May our Lord continue to look over and guide his loved ones. May he Rest in Peace!!!
