Mr. George Hilson was born on January 31, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Alexander and Elvira Hilson. He received his education in the Birmingham Public School System. George proudly served in the US Armed Forces as a Veteran of the Vietnam War and dedicated thirty-seven years of service to General Motors before retiring in 2007. After his honorable discharge, George relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he married his high school sweetheart Cynthia Parker. This union brought forth two beloved sons, Darrin, and Reginald Hilson.
Later in life, George found love again with Vernita Jenkins, with whom he was blessed with a son Marcus George Hilson. George’s faith journey began early, and he was baptized at Peace Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. He later became a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church in Cleveland, Ohio, where he contributed his voice to the choir and served on various boards until his health no longer permitted.
George, affectionately known as Peter, leaves behind his devoted wife Vernita, sons Darrin (Yvette) , Reginald ( Shanora) and Marcus ( Cierra) Hilson, as well as his brother Anthony(Felicia) , sister Felicia from Chicago, Illinois, and a host of grandchildren, Denedro ( Ashtin ) , DaMario, Darius ( Mania) ,Di’Erra, Nehemiah , Ian and Kai Hilson, great – grandchildren , nieces , nephews , relatives and friends. He also leaves cherished memories to his mother-in-law, Ms. Louise Jenkins and sister-in-law Mary White in Birmingham, Alabama and many other relatives, friends and loved ones.
