George was born in Tuskegee, AL on July 7, 1960. He was the first child to the union of George Washington and Mary Washington-Edwards. George came to Cleveland as a young child and received his formal education through the Cleveland Public School System. He decided shortly after high school that he wanted to be a truck driver. He set sights on driving cross-country. He wanted to see the world and be paid to do it. He retired as a truck driver in 2023.
George lived in California most of his adult life. George married Margaret Washington on Jan 26, 2006, in Los Angeles, CA. He returned to Cleveland in 2017 to be closer to his family. George was a lover of all sports, especially football. Every Sunday during NFL season you could find him in front of a TV screen yelling excitedly. He was yelling whether it was good or bad for every play of the team he was rooting for. He enjoyed barbequing and doing yardwork. He coordinated every holiday meal menu to make sure he had his favorites. He always enjoyed spending time together with family. He also enjoyed watching movies and television. George had a big personality. He kept everyone around him laughing. He always retold every story to make it funnier than it was in reality. He was one of the most helpful people you would meet. If he loved you there was nothing he would not do to help you. He was someone to always give sincere and honest advice and he shared a perspective most never considered. George will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by Johnny Washington (Brother).George is survived by wife Margaret Washington; father George Washington; mother Mary Washington-Edwards; daughter Sheila Hamilton; son Christopher Washington; son Gregory Washington; brother Leonard Washington; sister Cassandra Washington; step-son Bradford Werner; step-son Bryan Carfley; step-son Jerry Carfley (Taryn); nephew Johnny Hamilton; niece Denali Washington; grandson Cameron Fields; grandson Braylon Owens; grandson Lonzo Washington; step-granddaughter Aubrielle Werner; step-granddaughter Charlotte Werner; step-granddaughter Destiny Carfley; step-granddaughter Harmony Carfley; step-granddaughter Sky Carfley; step-granddaughter River Carfley. George had a very close relationship with his Uncle John Sanders and cousin Ronnie Sanders. He also leaves a host of cousins, other relatives and special close friends.
