Ms. Georgia Ruth Gohagan, a true legend and the eldest of three, was born to the late George Walter Tolbert and Mattie Lay of Lithonia, GA, on July 26, 1935. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized at Miller Grover Baptist Church. She received her formal education at Miller Grove Elementary and Lithonia High School. In 1953, Georgia married Robert H. Bigsby and to this union ten children were born. In 1968, Georgia relocated to Cleveland, OH, where she worked various jobs until she retired from the Holiday Inn in 1992.
Georgia loved many things, such as crocheting, knitting, cooking and baking. She will be remembered for her banana pudding, collard greens, oxtails, and sweet potato pies. She also loved gardening—watching the growth stages of flowers and plants; and gambling—traveling to various casinos with family and friends. You would most likely find Georgia outdoors or on the phone with friends and family. She catered to the ill and loved being there for those in need which is how most of her friends became family; to know her is to love her. Georgia loved being surrounded by family and loved ones and they will forever cherish her outgoing personality, humor, laugh, and contagious smile. Georgia earned her wings on June 01, 2024 and leaves a legacy of five generations
