Gerald Frederick Stewart was born September 17, 1960 to Edith and Donald E. Stewart I.
He attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, where he was in the Marching Band and on the Wrestling Team.
Gerald attended Livingstone College in North Carolina where he majored in Forestry.
Gerald had a diverse variety of occupations; from maintenance worker, park ranger, ambulance driver, music teacher, and his last job before he retired, Activity Director at CityView Nursing Home.
Gerald loved fishing, camping, music, playing the saxophone, singing, traveling, watching the Cleveland Browns play, and family gatherings. He loved being outdoors! He loved lighting up the grill. He was always the life of the party, and never met a stranger.
Gerald married Deborah Thompson in 1983 and to this union two children were born: Gervon and Passion Stewart.
In 2004 Gerald married the love of his life, Conni. They blended their lives and families together. Gerald loved his children and grandchildren. He bonded with each and every one of them, and made them all feel special. He was affectionately called by them, Big Daddy and PaPa.
Gerald was a baptized believer, who loved the Lord. Gerald was a member of Lake Galilee Baptist Church for 25+ years, where he was in the choir, served as choir president for many years, and was there ordained as a Deacon.
In 2022 Gerald joined Celebration United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, volunteered for the food pantry ministry, was a dedicated Lay Servant, and had accepted a position on the Board of Trustees.
Gerald also had a nursing home ministry, where once a week he assisted with praise and worship service. This ministry was very near and dear to his heart.
With God’s help, Gerald overcame a lot of medical obstacles. He had a toughness about him, and always bounced back! He always continued to press forward in spite of his failing health. After being ill for a few months, on April 28th, 2024 the Lord called his faithful servant home. He will be dearly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Conni, his son, Gervon (Frann), his daughter, Passion (Mc Neal), daughters, Chaunte, Chari, and son George. A special Aunt, Losie
Thirteen grandchildren: Zyon, Aden, Adeja, Anthony, Xodus, Amaury, Malachi, Cameron, Jenard, Braylen, Collin, Alex, and Logan. His brother Donald, his sister Dianne, and a host of nieces , nephews, and cousins.
