Giles Von Doom (born Giles-Mika Emmanuel White, a.k.a. Aki) was born May 17, 1995 in Gary, Indiana to Shirley S. Kindle (Smith-McCarroll White) and Victor Von Doom.
Giles graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 2014 and since then led a life in pursuit of music. In 2023, he completed the Recording Arts and Technology Program at Tri-C with an associates degree. He was a founding member of the band Lack of Focus, founding member and creative director of hip-hop group Downhill Collective, and a founding member of Are You Down? You could almost always find him in the kitchen, cooking up some homemade creations that would undoubtedly be the most delicious thing you’ve ever tasted, or see him skateboarding through the streets, headphones on and in his own little world, or at the center of a crowded room, standing out amongst the noise like the brightest light you’ve ever seen. His personality, presence, and stature spanned into every corner. He opened his door and welcomed anyone at his table that was always either covered with food, board games, or both. He loved creating in all its forms, and whether it be drawing, painting, photography, costume design, home renovation, mask-making, writing poems and songs, or mixing beats, Giles poured his soul into all of it. He was an avid fan of anime and video games and could spend hours talking about it all to anyone who was lucky enough to listen. Giles was a man of many passions and hobbies, too many to list in detail, but some of which include ghost-hunting and all things paranormal, cosplaying as his favorite characters, playing Magic the Gathering, and planning and researching insanely detailed D&D campaigns for his pals. The sum of his parts would be inadequate to fully encapsulate the person he was and what he meant to those around him. He was, and forever will be, the absolute best of us.
Giles departed this life Tuesday June 18, 2024.
