Hattie Mae Gant was born November 19, 1933, in Camden, Alabama to the late Sam “Buddy” Gant and Katie Ree Gant. Sam and Katie had two daughters Geneva and Hattie.
At an early age, Hattie confessed to Christ and united with The Pine Level A.M.E. Church in Camden, Alabama, where she remained a faithful member until moving to Cleveland, Ohio. She united with St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church to continue her relationship with Christ.
After graduating from Camden Academy in 1951, Hattie married her high school sweetheart Eddie Lee Martin who remained her faithful companion until his death in 1996. Their union was blessed with the birth of five children. One of them preceded her in death.
In 1956, the young family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where Hattie was a stay-at-home Mom until 1970, where she became a dedicated employee at The Ohio Brush Company until she retired in 1996.
Hattie had many talents and hobbies. She enjoyed spending time with Family and Friends, Cooking, Baking, Shopping, (Hattie loved fashion), She spent a lot of time walking at Garfield Park, and line dancing. Hattie was an active member at the Maple Heights Community Center where she was a dedicated member of the Maple Steppers. Hattie was an active member at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church as an Eastern Star until her health began declining.
Hattie’s husband Eddie Lee Martin Sr., one son Terrell L. Martin, sister Geneva Gant Morris, grandson Romell Miller, son-in-law Robert L. Macon preceded her in death.
She is survived by her Children, Eddie Lee Martin Jr., Yvonne Macon, Wanda York (Jeffrey), Michelle Robinson (George), Grandchildren, Tiffney Facey (JoJo), Tamika Miller, Jashaunda Jones (Chelton), Terrell Martin.
Great Grandchildren, Lawrence, Latrell, Victor, Tamera, LaKiya, Aiyana, and Xavier. Great Great Grandchildren, Jada, Laiyah, and Maddie.
One Nephew, Durrell Morris (Monique), and one Niece Marika Morris.

After 91 Miraculous years of life, Hattie was called home to Heaven on April, 24, 2025, surrounded by Family. Her Memory will be cherished forever by her Family and Friends who hold her Spirit with them as they adjust to her transition to the new afterlife.
